Nice notes; many thanks ... I had a good working version of all of this using Vbox 1.5.6 with Ubuntu (Gutsy) 7.10(04?) hosting WinXP with parprouted and samba. It failed upon upgrade to Hardy but ... now happy again with Ubuntu (Intrepid) 8.10.

Try enabling Multicast forwarding. Should do the trick.

sudo sysctl net.ipv4.conf.all.mc_forwarding=1

Fantastic guide, works really well. Any idea how one would proxy multicast UPNP stuff? I have a upnp multimedia server running on my windows xp VM, however bcrelay and parprouted didn't help in enabling 'discovery' of anything.

Any suggestions?

Cheers!

Hi!
First, I want to thank you for your detailed guides... They are really helpful!
I followed this guide to create a wireless bridge with DHCP for my VirtualBox (inside Ubuntu 8.04) and it worked like a charm, but I would like to ask if you know of a good way to make these settings permanent, or at least help me with a script that would trigger these on upon bootup? This would be really nice!

Thanks for your help!
